NCS Championships were not conducted from 1931 through 1974. According to Paul Gaddini, NCS Commissioner of Athletics from 1972 to 2000, on October 31, 1972, Robert Boehme, Principal of Calistoga High School, requested that North Coast Section conduct championship competition in team sports. Subsequently, a committee consisting of Sam Zackheim, Principal, Monte Vista H.S., Will Sawyer, former Principal, John F. Kennedy H.S. - Fremont, Jim Hanretty, Principal, Tamalpais-Mill Valley, Rich Abel, former Athletic Director, Richmond H.S., and Robert Boehme were appointed to study Section Playoffs. The committee worked in conjunction with separate coaches committees representing various team sports. Based on the recommendation and work by the committee the NCS Board of Managers approved football playoffs at its January 18, 1975 meeting and reaffirmed that decision at its May 3, 1975 meeting . Apparently it was a close vote, and the deciding vote to resume NCS Football Playoffs was cast by then NCS President Dutch Williams, representing the Alameda County Athletic League. The rest is now our history.

1929	Berkeley (Berkeley 6, Palo Alto 0) Game was played December 7th at Memorial Stadium, Berkeley.				Eureka (Eureka 9, Vallejo 7 OT) Game was played December 7th at Vallego High School.
1928	Palo Alto (Palo Alto 6, Vallejo 0) Game was played December 8th at Stanford Stadium.
1927	San Mateo (San Mateo 7, Berkeley 0) Game was played December 3rd at Memorial Stadium, Berkeley.
1926	San Mateo (San Mateo 20, Berkeley 7) Game was played December 4th at Burlingame High School.
1925	Salinas (Salinas 13, Berkeley 3) Game was played December 12th at Memorial Stadium, Berkeley.
1924	Berkeley (Berkeley by forfeit)
1923	Lick-Wilmerding (Lick-Wilmerding 20, Berkeley 16) Game was played December 8th at Berkeley High School.
1922	Berkeley (Berkeley 3, San Mateo 0) Game was played December 9th at San Mateo High School.
1921	Berkeley (Berkeley 42, Palo Alto 0) Game was played December 10th at California Field, Berkeley.
1920	Berkeley (Berkeley 53, Lick-Wilmerding 14) Game was played December 4th at Ewing Field, San Francisco.
1919	Berkeley (Berkeley 116, Mountain View 0) Game was played November 22nd at Mtn. View High school.

*From 1983 through 1989 the 2A North and 2A South teams played to determine the 2A Champion.
